Birmingham born
and bred, I grew up listening to Zeppelin, Purple, Hendrix and any
other rock music I could get my ears on, and was already writing
original music for my own band whilst still attending Grammar School.
This turned out to be what I would do with my life.
Appreciating and moving into other styles and fields
of music as a session singer and player, was the way I found of earning
money with which to fund these ongoing original projects of mine, and
that is how my career still proceeds to date.
Consequently I have played gigs in almost every
setting, from social clubs to rock arenas, from lounge bar covers bands
to wild and esoteric polyrhythmic original stuff. [Check out

This has stood me in good stead with regard to
teaching, something I have always done casually, but more recently
qualified for, becoming an I.M.F. graduate at the Academy of Music in
Birmingham. Which opened up some new and interesting avenues for me,
allowing me to teach other aspects of the business, fulfilling niches
in the modern music curricula, such as solo and group performance
skills, composition and arrangement in contemporary music, and studio
skills such as engineering and production.
I am a writer, arranger and producer of my own
material and of original material for many other artists, with varied
and extensive studio experience. I have always been a singer first, but
I am also a multi - instrumentalist. After my voice, my first
instrument is probably piano/keyboards, although I have done many
sessions as a guitarist, a bass player, a percussionist, and even the
odd gig as a drummer.
